Here are some of my favorite shots that I got from the Warped Tour yesterday. Check out the full gallery on Courant.com.
Photographer note: I think my new favorite concert lens is the Sigma 70-200. It seemed to make the impossible, possible. Now my vision for concert pics actually matches the output. For your listening pleasure, I’ve linked to a youtube vid of my favorite song from each artist below.
Probably one of my favorite artists of all time, Lostprophets are a Welsh group, with 5 albums to their name. When I heard they were hitting Warped Tour this year, that was the tipping point that made me go.
Their experimental nature with electronic interludes in The Fake Sound Of Progress is what first intrigued me; their playfulness with covers like Justin Timerlake’s “Cry Me A River” kept me interested. A few of my other favorites by them include “We Are Godzilla You Are Japan”, “Last Summer” and title tracks “The Fake Sound Of Progress” and “Start Something.”
I KNOW that the gesture of handing a Monster drink made this fan’s day. I was chatting with him before the show started and we were both psyching each other up for our favorite band’s set.
Great pop punk band, in the vein of New Found Glory and Something Corporate, yet the violin made it a little different. I personally love their Michelle Branch cover of “Everywhere.”
Taking Back Sunday – Better make damn sure
I’ve seen Taking Back Sunday more than a few times, but they still remain one of my favorite pop punk acts.
Stepdad – My leather, my fur, my nails
I first heard about Stepdad on Turntable.fm, with the infections track linked above. They’re a fun, electro-8-bit pop band. Not sure how else to describe them, but the music is lots of fun.
Funeral Party – Just Because (Kids of 88 remix).
Another band I heard about from Turntable.fm, they’re a quieter indie-pop band that I hope to hear more from. Definitely check out the track above, it’s infectious.
