Last year I was introduced to the amazing vegan, sustainable GMonkey food truck, that made weekly visits to Billings Forge in Hartford. I’ve tried almost every item on the menu, and all of it is fantastic. Today marked the first day of the season for GMonkey’s visits. Every time I go, I try to bring a friend to spread the gospel. Today, I had a Grilled G “vegan grilled cheese” which is grilled (daiya) cheese with basil pesto, carmelized onions served on Shadle farm organic whole wheat bread. Owner Ami Beach gave me a side of quinoa salad (one of my favorites!) to go along with it. To top it off, I also ordered the delicious Wild Jungle Peanut Butter Cup Shake, which is the best chunky monkey shake you can imagine, made with raw Peruvian cacao, organic peanut butter, almond milk, maca root and hemp seed. Yummy!
