Killswitch Engage – The Dome at Oakdale Theater

Killswitch EngageI’ve been to the Oakdale Theater 3 times in the past 3 years and this was my first experience with The Dome. For those of you not familiar, it’s basically the main atrium area that houses the concessions. It’s a fairly large area, though not nearly the size of the actual theater which is probably why the folks at the Oakdale decided to try filling out a smaller size of the theater; to save money but still manage to house a “sold-out” show. Interesting marketing technique. We’ll see in the coming months if they start to pull in acts that I would trek out to shoot.Killswitch Engage (or, more accurately, Philswitch Engage as this part of the tour has been dubbed, due to Phil Labonte of All That Remains filling in on vocals) is the second show that has been held at the Dome, and people seemed to enjoy the experience overall.  The audience had a special treat, as the original singer Jesse Leach graced the crowd with 5 songs.
On the technical aspect, I haven’t been able to shake off my crutch of using AV mode, so I hovered around ISO 1600-3200 f/2.8 with my 17-55. But I am taking significantly less pictures than when I first started shooting concerts. That’s a start, right?
